The Calendar Girls

A screenplay based on the 2003 film by Tim Firth, about true female friendship though all seasons of life. It is based on a true story, a group of middle-ages Yorkshire women produced a nude calendar to raise money for Leukaemia research under the auspices of the Women's Institute in April 1999 after Annie Clarke's husband dies from cancer.

Design Sketches
Design sketches for the main characters in Calendar Girls, set in late 1990s Yorkshire. I used 90s-style clothing such as modest skirts, cardigans, and floral prints to reflect the Women’s Institute and the characters’ traditional lifestyles. The costumes follow the storyline by starting conservative and gradually becoming more relaxed during the calendar scenes, using props to maintain modesty while showing the characters’ growing confidence and unity.
