Die Zauberflöte (2026)

Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute)

Assistant Costume Designer - Berlin Opera Accademy Summer Programme 2026

Director: Cecilia Stinton | Head of Costume: Yarden Deddi

Inspired by Henri Matisse's Jazz (1947), this costume design project reimagines Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) as a vibrant travelling circus. Using bold colour, simplified forms, and playful character transformations, the production creates a shared world of spectacle and imagination. Characters are reinterpreted as circus performers, including Sarastro as a ringmaster, the Queen of the Night as a snake charmer, and Pamina as a sword swallower, reflecting the opera's themes of transformation, enlightenment, and theatrical wonder.
